Domestic Tourism: Cueva Ventana y Cueva del Indio

Last week we decided to do some domestic tourism (I think that's how you say it) and we decided to go to two places, 'Cueva Ventana' and 'Cueva del Indio'. The literal translation, respectively, of these two places is Window Cavern and the Indian Cavern. The reason we decided to go to these places was because there's an American group in our church called Youthworks. Youthworks is a group that goes to different countries to do charity work and they come every year to our church. Since the leaders have every Saturday free and they wanted to visit some places around the area we invited them.
We went first to 'Cueva Ventana' which is located in Utuado, Puerto Rico and basically is a cavern where you have to walk for a while to get there and believe me it was a really longggg walk with a very muddy terrain (it had rained the day before) which was scary because at any moment you could have a bad fall and it was really hot, like it has been lately. The worst part is when you have to go downhill and over the roots of a big tree (you can see this tree in the second picture, path to the caverns). For me that was scary because I'm a person who is really afraid of heights and when you had to go across this tree you were inches away from falling down to the cavern. When we got to the cavern we had to wait in line to enter the cavern while I was waiting I saw a lot of people falling or that almost did. While I was waiting in line I thought that the worst part was over, but when it was our turn to enter the cave and I started to freak out.  You had to go down the cave with the help of a rope and the whole thing was really slippery, one of my friends tried to calm me down. I was like Carlos I'm nauseous and he's like breath in and out. LOL Now that I think back it was really funny. Once you're in the cave you need to be really careful because it's really dark and we forgot to take a flashlight. The whole point of going to this cavern is that when you get to the end there's going to be a big whole that resembles a window and you see a beautiful view of mountains (you're going to be able to see it on the pictures) and a bridge.

After we got out of the cave we decided to make a stop on a place where there was a little waterfall where you could swim. In our way there we had to go through the bridge that faces the 'window' of the cavern and the guys decided to stop and wave to the people on the cave and dance too. Some people that where on the cave started taking pictures, you could see the flash. It was really funny!

The last thing we did was to go to 'Cueva del Indio' which is located on the beach in Arecibo. When we got there we decided to see the arches on 'Cueva del Indio’ before going to the cave and we had a beautiful view of the whole ocean and we seated for a while there and that's where I took the last picture. I didn't took anymore pictures cause I didn't went down to the cave; it had this wooden ladder which my common sense told me it wasn't very secure. So I just decided to sit tight and watch everybody go down.

It was a really good day and a tiring one I never thought that I could walk that much, but I think it was worth it cause we saw some beautiful views. I don't think though that I would be doing something like this again it was too adventurous and scary for me sometimes because of my fear of heights. So I leave this kind of things to Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild) and I keep myself to fashion.

La semana pasada hicimos turismo interno y decidimos ir a Cueva Ventana y Cueva del Indio.  La razón por la que decidimos ir a estos lugares es porque en nuestra iglesia hay un grupo americano llamado Youthworks.  Youthworks es un grupo que va a diferentes países a hacer trabajo comunitario.  Como los líderes tienen todo los sábados libres y ellos querían ver algunos lugares cerca del área los invitamos.
Fuimos primero a Cueva Ventana que esta localizada en Utuado, Puerto Rico y básicamente ara llegar a esta cueva tienes que caminar por un largo tiempo.  Donde el terreno estaba lleno de fango por que el día anterior había llovido esto hacia el camino un poco peligroso.  La peor parte fue cuando teníamos que ir bajando por una cuesta y teníamos que pasar las raíces de un árbol (lo puedes ver en la segunda foto) en la que estábamos a menos de una pulgada de si das un paso en falso caer dentro de la cueva.  Para mi esta parte me dio mucho miedo ya que le tengo terror a las alturas.  Cuando llegabas a la cueva tenías que hacer una fila para entrar.  Mientras esperaba vi a mucha gente que se cayó o que estuvo a punto.  Cuando estaba esperando en la línea pensé que lo peor ya había pasado hasta que llegue a la entrada de la cueva y vi que había que aguantarse de una soga y bajar.  En ese momento empezé a ponerme bien nerviosas por que se veía alto y estaba todo lleno de lodo.  Mi amigo me tuvo que tranquilizar.  Yo le dije Carlos tengo nauseas y él me dice respira, exhala, respira, exhala.  Ahora que me pongo a penar se debió a ver visto bien gracioso.  Cuando ya estas en la cueva necesitas tener cuidado ya que es bien oscuro adentro y a nosotros se nos olvido traer linterna.  El punto de ir a Cueva Ventana es que cuando llegas al final de la cueva vas a ver como un hoyo gigante que se parece a una ventana y desde ahí se puede ver todas las montañas y un puente (lo vas a ver en las fotos).

Después de salir de la cueva decidimos hacer una parada en un lugar donde había una cascada y nos podíamos bañar en ella.  De camino allá pasamos por el puente que ves desde la ventana de la cueva y los chicos decidieron parar en el puente y saludar a la gente que estaba en la cueva y bailar.  Algunas personas que estaban en la cueva empezaron a tomar fotos, se podía ver el flash de la cámara.  ¡Fue bien gracioso!

Lo último que hicimos fue ir a la Cueva del Indio, que esta localizada en Arecibo.  Cuando llegamos allí decidimos ver los arcos primeros, antes de entrar a la cueva.  Desde donde estábamos teníamos una vista hermosa de todo el océano y ahí fue donde tome la última foto.  No tome más fotos por que no entre a esa cueva.  Para entrar tenias que bajar por una escalera de madera que en mi opinión no se veía muy segura así es que decidí sentarme y esperar a que los demás terminaran de ver la cueva.  

Fue un día muy bueno y cansón a la misma vez, nunca pensé que podía caminar tanto, pero creo que valió la pena por que vimos unas vistas hermosas.  Pienso que no volvería hacer algo como esto fue demasiado aventurero y en algunas partes me dio mucho miedo por mi terror a las alturas.  Así es que creo que le dejare este tipo de cosas a Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild) y yo me quedo con la moda.

OOTD No. 6

Today was a very hot day in Puerto Rico, it has been like that since the start of the summer.  The temperature was 87 degrees and it felt hotter than that.  While I was taking these pictures I was sweating so I tried to pose really fast in result of that another post with bad pictures was born, but like I said in my last post of the OOTD, this is about the outfit not about me.  The pictures of today are brought to you by my special photographer, my dad, which has to stand me since I hate pictures and I really get picky with them.

The outfit of today is very casual since I was going to the movies to see the Dark Knight and let me tell you it was an excellent movie.  After we got out of the movie a friend took a picture of me and my other friend posing in the rock of ages scenario.  I'm going to include the picture at the end of the post.  Anyway, my OOTD constitutes in the same ASOS bag I have been using none stop, I need to change it already!  The next thing is my tiger shirt and my fringe cardigan, both of them from forever 21, for jeans I'm wearing my comfortable skinny jeans which are a dark wash from JCPenney by the way I have two pairs of this cause they are way too comfortable.  For shoes I have my double tongue converse and I love the color of these.  I have another pair but I prefer these ones.  For jewelry I have my spike bracelets and my arrow earrings, all from eBay.

Hoy, fue un día muy caluroso en Puerto Rico a estado así desde el principio del verano. La temperatura era de 87 grados pero creo que estaba mas caliente. Mientras me tomaba las fotos estaba sudando mucho, así es que pose súper rápido para terminar. A consecuencia de esto ahora hay otro post con fotos malas pero como dije en mi último post del ODD, esto es sobre el outfit no sobre mí. Las fotos de hoy fueron tomadas nuevamente por mi padre que tiene que soportar mi odio por las fotos ya que me toma a veces varias fotos y ninguna me gusta.

El outfit de hoy es muy casual ya que iba para el cine a ver Dark Knight, que por cierto estaba muy buena. Cuando salimos de la peli nos paramos en el escenario de Rock of Ages y nos tomamos unas fotos, las pondré al final. Mi outfit constituye de mi camisa de tigre y mi chaleco de flecos que son de forever 21, mi cartera preferida de ASOS que ya es hora de que la cambie y mi joyería de eBay.

Week in Photos: My Day on the Beach!

In some blogs they do a "Week in photos" which I reaally enjoy watching.  So I thought it would be cool to do one myself, instead of doing one of my week this one is of one day.  Some times it could be of one day if I do something really interesting or it could be of the whole week.  It all depends of what I do.

Personal Experience: Hiring Line

400 people and I was number 317. Shoe Carnival is opening their first two stores in Puerto Rico. The stores are going to open in July meaning that they are hiring people, this week, and today was the first day of interviews. Since I don't have a job and my parents have been nagging me about it for some time now, I decided to go. BAD BAD IDEA. What the hell was I thinking?! When I arrived this morning to their location the line was a nightmare it almost surrounded the building, but what could I do? I had already arrived so I was going to do that line. I arrived at nine and it was four in the afternoon and I was still doing the line. It was the most horrible line I have ever had to wait in with the hot puertorican weather.  When I was close to the doors, my hair was a mess, I was sweaty, I had sand all over my body and I couldn't figure out where did it came from, my clothes where a mess and even my shoes, and I looked like a lobster.  The reason I say that I looked like a lobster it's because I don't tan I burn and when I burn I burn badly.   If anyone had taken my before and after picture they would look scare and maybe wondered what had happened to this girl. I had arrived to that interview clean; with my hair in place and clean clothes.  At the end of the day I looked worse than a kindergarten kid in his longest day.  I was definitely mortified I didn’t want the interviewer to see me like that, well he didn’t.  A representative came out and said they couldn’t interview more people since they had 70 people waiting inside the store.  So he told the rest of us to go home and come tomorrow, I thought you’re kidding me, right?! Right?!  He wasn’t so he called us by the list they had passed in the morning and gave us our numbers and in that order they are going to interview us tomorrow.  I’m number 65.  Since so many people came today they cancelled two of the days they were going to interview and gave the whole day of tomorrow to the people that couldn’t be interview today, meaning me and a bunch of other people.  This makes me exited since I’m going to be showing everyone my lobster look.  I’m sure it’s going to be all the rage.

PS. I was supposed to do the Summer Essentials video today but since I'm so tired of waiting all day under the beautiful sun  I'm going to try to do it tomorrow after I arrive from my interview.  I know that I was supposed to do this video last week but a lot of stuff have been happening lately.
